As of July 2016, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) lists 37 extinct in the wild plant species. Surprisingly 7 of the 37 plants listed are Brugmansia which only highlights the importance of Ex-Situ conservation programs and the importance of the work we are carrying out at Exotic Earth Plants to grow a collection of this species. All seven species are extinct in the wild, although they are popular ornamental plants and still exist wild in other areas as an introduced species.
